After three years in the Art History department at the University of Nottingham (1994-7), and a year at Keele University studying an MA in Visual Arts in Contemporary Culture (1997-8), I have worked in contemporary art galleries in the UK.
1998-99 Assistant Keeper (New Media) at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke on Trent.
1999-2000 Gallery Assistant at Kettle's Yard in Cambridge.
2000-06 Deputy Curator at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield.
2006-08 Director of platform projects in Newcastle upon Tyne.
2008 Director of 36 Lime Street in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Since 2007 I've been a part-time PhD student, funded by the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council), as part of their CDA (Collaborative Doctoral Award) scheme. My partner institutions are Goldsmiths and Tate Modern. I am a visiting lecturer at King's College London, and I teach a course on the future of the museum at Tate Modern.
I also work as part-time administrator for Redeye - the photography network, based in Manchester.
